As a result, wildlife managers, ecologists, city planners, landscape architects, and community leaders must find ways to create and maintain ecologically significant habitats in and around urban areas. This conference demonstrates management opportunities for urban habitats from small city parks in urban centers to large subdivisions with considerable open space. The roles of urban soils, vegetation, water quality, noise, open space, greenways, habitat, animal communities, and human communities will be discussed. Presenters will share proven strategies for successfully integrating increased wildlife habitat in our cities and towns. The Practice of Restoring Native Ecosystems National ConferenceThis conference will examine restoration as a form of environmental stewardship. Presentations will focus on issues, approaches, and techniques in restoration, successful restorations of ecosystems, and using restoration principles to address environmental problems. Storms Over the Urban ForestThis national conference focuses on the planning, mitigation, response and recovery processes necessary to deal with storms affecting urban forests. The conference agenda is being developed with a special focus on the needs of communities in Southern and mid-Atlantic states, but will have applicability nationwide. If you help manage an urban forest or are involved in emergency response in the aftermath of a disaster, you should attend. Regional Seminars & WorkshopsBuilding With Trees SeminarsThis full day information-packed seminar will benefit anyone involved in planning, building, and designing new residential or commercial structures. Taught by Charles Stewart, one of the nation's leading consultants on the techniques of saving trees during construction, this seminar lays out a clear thought process which ensures that existing trees are considered at each phase of a project. You'll learn to determine which trees to protect and how to safeguard those trees during construction. Graced with mature trees, the resulting developments benefit from increased aesthetic enjoyment, improved quality of life, lower energy costs, a perception of quality, faster sales and lease ups, lower developments costs, and enhanced owner and customer satisfaction. Learn how to bring these qualities to the developments in your community by attending this seminar. Learn more...Hazard Trees Workshop
